Dr. Rachel Shaeffer
Dr. Rachel Shaeffer is a recent graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She also attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate degree in Animal Science. While she is originally from Tallahassee, Dr. Shaeffer has always been a proud Gator fan. During her time in college, she performed as the Florida Gator mascot Alberta. She was heavily involved in shelter and community medicine programs throughout her time in college and veterinary school. These programs included outreach trips to Belize and Ecuador to provide veterinary care for low-income families. Becoming a companion animal veterinarian has been Dr. Shaeffer’s dream for as long as she can remember.
Dr. Shaeffer is passionate about preventative medicine, management of chronic diseases, and dermatology. Her interests also include cytology and nutrition. She is Fear Free certified and works hard to ensure that her patients have low-stress and enjoyable veterinary visits. Her primary goal is to deliver personalized care that fits the needs of both her patients and clients.
In her downtime, Dr. Shaeffer enjoys spending time with her husband and fur-children. She has an adorable orange tabby cat named Evan and a beautiful lab mix rescue dog named Josie. As a family, they enjoy trying out new recipes, going on hikes, and catching up on the latest Netflix shows. Her other major hobby is cheering on the Gators during sporting events, especially football.
Dr. Shaeffer will join the Magnolia Animal Hospital team this summer. She is very excited to get to know the Ocala community and Magnolia Animal Hospital’s wonderful clients.
